Music and language have thrilled my soul for as long as I can remember, but at age 38, I discovered new songs were actually inside my heart and mind. After years of being told (accused?) of being very analytical (admittedly I scored an 800 on the analytical section of the SAT twice and wanted to scream), I wrote off my secret dream of life as a creative. Whatever happened in my late 30’s – hormone surge?  mini-stroke?  blow to the head ? – it was a dramatic internal shift. I got a brand new lens to see the world through. Many of my words and melodies come to me in the dark of night (or in the car). Because I am slow and stubborn at times, my biggest life lessons have also come through darkness, usually of my own making. I believe this whole crazy world is a setup to showcase love, grace, and redemption, my own soul included. You might think that is naive, but the more I live, the more I believe it.

  1. My favorite time for thinking and writing is at night too.
In the quiet of the darkness, thoughts and words come dancing through the air.
    On the other hand….
my daughter says her best ideas come to her in the shower, while the water is flowing over her head.
Aha! We are all different and that is what makes life so wonderfully interesting! 🙂
