This time of year in our county (it might be a different season in your neck of the woods), grocery stores advertise bags of groceries for sale that will be donated to the local food bank. Much of that food goes directly to the smaller food pantries. Nourishment for the Needy is one of thirty-something food pantries in Montgomery County. We will process thousands of bags in the next 2 weeks. The canned and dry goods we collect in January will be stored and last through much of the summer. In turn, thousands of individuals served by our little pantry will receive about 1 week’s supply of food for their family each month. I hope the photos below will give you a little idea of the process. Next time you are checking out at the grocery store, grab a bag!
